Personalized Eye Exams at LoHi Eye Care and Eyewear

Your eyes are one of the most important parts of your body. Protect your eyes and your eyesight by staying on top of eye health. An eye exam offers the best way to understand the current condition of your eyes and eyesight.

Once we determine the health of your eyes, we can provide the right treatment or prescription to restore or maintain eye health. Annual eye exams give you a detailed understanding of your vision and how it relates to overall health.

Eye Exam Denver

With the massive growth in Denver over recent years, it’s hard to find a place where you feel seen and heard for eye care. Yet, maintaining the health of your eyes benefits you when you have consistent care tracked over time.

At LoHi Eye Care and Eyewear, we want each patient to receive a personalized eye exam experience. This means we take the time needed to thoroughly examine your eyes and provide an accurate diagnosis or prescription.

We do not rush you through the process. Instead, we prioritize patient care where we leave time to listen to your concerns and get to know you and your family. This starts with a detailed patient history and eye exam.

What’s Included in an Eye Exam?

Your eye exam may vary based on your age, current prescription, and medical history. However, we run a few typical procedures with most patients. Our goal is consistent and quality communication so that you know the value of each procedure during your exam.

  • Visual Acuity Test – The goal with the visual acuity test is to test the sharpness of your vision. The eye doctor determines how your vision compares to 20/20 vision by using projected eye charts. The patient usually covers each eye to test the vision of each eye independently.

  • Ocular Motility Testing – The goal with the ocular motility test is to determine how well your eyes follow moving objects. Problems with ocular motility can lead to eye strain. The eye movement test checks for both smooth and quick eye movement abilities.

  • Retinoscopy – Retinoscopy determines if you have a refractive error of the eye. In other words, it determines whether you are nearsighted, farsighted or have an astigmatism and to what degree. This test is a reliable and accurate way to determine the right lens prescription.

  • Refraction Test – In addition to retinoscopy, the refraction test also determines the best lens prescription to provide accurate vision. We use a phoropter to show you a series of lens options to determine which looks clearer.

  • Keratometry Test – The keratometry test measures the curve and shape of the cornea. The goal with this test is to check for astigmatism and determine the general shape of the eye.

  • Intraocular Pressure Measure – The intraocular pressure measure sends a puff of air into your eye to measure eye pressure. This test checks for signs of glaucoma and other eye conditions. We use drops to numb the eye for this test.

  • Other Tests – We may use other tests as needed to achieve an accurate examination of your eyes.
